Having played ultimate in both high school and college, I've developed a feel for these discs.
They've got that heft to them that other frisbees just don't. Great toy for humans and dogs. Or humans with dogs.

I remember throwing all sorts of frisbees when I was younger. Most weren't all that great. They would hit the ground hard and taco or would have an unpredictable flight.
Enjoy on the beach or on the field for YEARS to come.
Knowing the feel and flight of an Ultra Star helped me to move to disc golf and throw putters. I still use my old Ultra Stars to warm up before I play a round because it's so easy to throw (especially for women) and easy on my shoulder.

My college ultimate team used these for all of our four seasons and loved it. We even had some Ultra Stars customed stamped and gave them out at one of our tourneys. Those who have thrown the dependable Ultra Star hopped on that deal and some people even bought a few.
The weight in the rim was important for me and the feel and flight path were great. I was very confident in my flicks, overhead and backhand shots. I had an Innova Pulsar, but the flight plate was a bit too rounded on the edges and my grip would often slip. I have never had that problem with the Ultra Star.
Can't go wrong.

I grew up throwing Whamo ultimate discs. I like Whamo, but the Discraft Ultra Star is even better. It resembles the Whamo, but I think the weight distribution is slightly different, making it more stable in flight. This means when you are trying to hyzer or anhyzer a shot you must be a little more deliberate than with other discs, which I think is a good thing.
